The call for papers is now open for the EuAWE Workshop on Geographical Indications: Signals of Quality or Constraints for Innovation?

The workshop invites researchers to explore the evolving role of Geographical Indications (GIs), including PDOs and PGIs, in the face of climate change, sustainability challenges, changing consumer preferences, and increasing international competition. Contributions from all relevant disciplines are welcome to examine whether GIs continue to promote value creation, product differentiation, and territorial development, or whether they may also constrain adaptation and innovation.

While papers addressing all agri-food sectors are encouraged, special attention will be given to wine, spirits, and particularly rum, as a distinctive case for analysing the economic and territorial impacts of Geographical Indications.

Location: French Caribbean (University of the Antilles, Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe)
Dates: 6-8 January 2027 (academic sessions & field visits)
Organised by: European Association of Wine Economists (EuAWE) & University of the Antilles (CREDDI)

Submission details and key deadlines are available in the full Call for Papers
